Sometimes we’re surprised at how many people have never tried a red pear considering that the Red Anjou is one of the most ubiquitous pear varieties to come from the Pacific Northwest. Well, if you have never tried one of these beauties, you are in for a real treat! Available in markets from November through late spring or summer, they are sometimes just called Red Pears in the store. Nearly year-long availability is part of the reason why they are beloved by chefs, who also prize them for their deliciously versatile flavor and their deep red skin.
